Finding a reliable education consultancy is one of the first steps for Nepali students planning to study abroad. Whether the destination is the UK, Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea or another country, students often search for consultancies with the highest visa success rate.
It is understandable. Nobody wants to spend months preparing an application only to receive a visa refusal.
However, there is something students should know before trusting a consultancy that advertises a 95%, 98% or 99% visa success rate.
There is no official consultancy-wise visa success ranking in Nepal.
Immigration authorities publish information about visa applications, grants and refusals for their respective countries, but they do not generally publish an official ranking showing which Nepalese education consultancy has the highest visa success rate.
The percentages displayed by individual consultancies are therefore generally self-reported figures based on their own records or calculations.
This does not necessarily mean that the figures are false.
It simply means that students should understand where the number comes from, what applications it includes and whether anyone independent has verified it.

Which countries are included?

Which years does the data cover?
Immigration policies change. A figure from several years ago may not represent the current situation.
Does the figure include first-time applications only?
This can affect the percentage considerably.
Are refused applications included?
Ask how the consultancy calculates the denominator.
Has the figure been independently audited?
This is one of the most important questions.
If the answer is no, treat the percentage as a company-reported figure, not an official statistic.
