How to Choose the Right Consultancy for 2027
Choosing an education consultancy should not be based only on advertisements or social media popularity.
Before selecting one, consider the following factors.
1. Understand Your Own Profile
A counsellor should first understand your academic background, grades, English-language score, budget, preferred course, study gap, and career plans.
A suitable course and university can vary significantly from one student to another.
2. Compare Different Universities
Ask the consultancy to provide more than one option where possible.
Compare:
- Tuition fees
- Course structure
- Entry requirements
- Location
- Scholarships
- University reputation
- Accommodation
- Career opportunities
- Internship opportunities
3. Ask for a Complete Cost Breakdown
The total cost of studying abroad includes more than tuition fees.
Depending on the destination, you may need to budget for:
- Application costs
- Tuition fees
- Visa fees
- Health insurance
- English-language tests
- Medical examinations
- Accommodation
- Airfare
- Initial living expenses
Ask the consultancy to explain these costs clearly before starting the application.
4. Be Careful With Visa Guarantees
No consultancy can guarantee that a student will receive a visa.
A consultancy can help prepare documents, explain requirements, and assist with the application, but the final visa decision belongs to the relevant immigration authority.
Be cautious about anyone promising a guaranteed visa or guaranteed future employment.
5. Ask About Post-Arrival Support
It can also be useful to ask what support is available after you arrive in your destination country.
Some consultancies provide:
- Pre-departure sessions
- Airport assistance
- Accommodation guidance
- Local orientation
- University coordination
- Post-arrival counselling
What Should a Good Consultancy Provide?
A good education consultancy should help you understand your options instead of simply pushing you toward a particular institution.
Ideally, the process should look something like:
Profile Assessment → Course Selection → University Shortlisting → Application → Documentation → Visa Preparation → Pre-Departure Support
You should also be able to ask questions about tuition fees, university requirements, scholarships, visa requirements, living expenses, and future study opportunities.
Final Thoughts
There are many education consultancies in Nepal, and the right one can depend heavily on the student’s individual circumstances.
AECC Nepal, KIEC, IDP Education, Global Reach, The Next, NIEC, Dolphin Education, Edwise Foundation, Education Tree Global, and Uniworld Education Consultancy are 10 established options students can research for the 2027 study-abroad intake.
Instead of selecting a consultancy simply because it calls itself the “best consultancy in Nepal,” students should compare several consultancies, ask detailed questions, understand the complete cost, and verify important information with universities and official government sources.
The most important thing is to choose a course and destination that match your academic background, financial situation, interests, and long-term career plans.
